Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CSK-L2)
Description
This qualification is designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to use counselling skills ethically and safely in a variety of contexts and roles, such as the helping professions. This qualification is for those starting out in their training as a professional counsellor, or those wanting to learn counselling skills for other professions or helping roles. This course is also useful for anybody wishing to improve their communication and listening skills, or their professional and / or personal relationships as part of their personal development. Assessment is via written course work and tutor observation.
CPCAB counselling qualifications are formally recognised by the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), the UK’s leading counselling ethical body. The 90 formal learning hours you earn on this course count towards the 450 minimum hours of core training required for BACP membership. Membership to the BACP (or equivalent body) is necessary if you wish to become a counselling practitioner, including working privately or for organisations such as the NHS.

Entry Requirements
No previous training or experience is required to undertake this qualification.
The minimum age for this course is 18 (age requirement is linked to Ofqual’s system for categorising qualifications).

Course Dates
The Level 2 evening course plans to run at least twice during the year, from September to February and from February to July, observing the academic calendar in terms of breaks for half terms, Easter & Christmas.
For September start dates, you may immediately progress training from your Level 2 course to Level 3. This will be on the same schedule each week as part of a combined programme of Level 2 and Level 3, which will be hosted from Feb to July. Note, with the combined programme, candidates will receive a 10% discount on their Level 3 fees.

Online Evening Course:
Starts: Wednesday, 2nd September 2026, 4 pm to 9 pm (breaks provided).
Ends: Wednesday, 10th February 2027, in preparation for progression routes to Level 3, 25th February 2027.
In-Person Daytime Course:
Starts: Wednesday, 2nd September 2026, 9.15 am to 2.30 pm (breaks provided).
Ends: Wednesday, 10th February 2027, in preparation for progression routes to Level 3, 25th February 2027.
Level 2 + 3 Combined Option:
Please note that the in-person or online schedules above cater to individual certification.
For courses starting in September, you can choose to sign up for our Level 2 & 3 progression route, completing both Level 2 and Level 3 in a single academic year (September to July). Please choose this option on your application form.
This will prepare for progression to Level 4, starting September 2027.
