Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CSK-L2)
Description
This qualification is designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to use counselling skills ethically and safely in a variety of contexts and roles, such as the helping professions. This qualification is for those starting our in their training as a professional counsellor, or those wanting to learn counselling skills for other professions or helping roles. This course is also useful for anybody wishing to improve their communication and listening skills, or their professional and / or personal relationships as part of their personal development.​ Assessment is via written course work and tutor observation.
CPCAB counselling qualifications are formally recognised by the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), the UK’s leading counselling ethical body. The 90 formal learning hours you earn on this course count towards the 450 minimum hours of core training required for BACP membership. Membership to the BACP (or equivalent body) is necessary if you wish to become a counselling practitioner, including working privately or for organisations such as the NHS.

Entry Requirements
No previous training or experience is required to undertake this qualification.
The minimum age for this course is 18 (age requirement is linked to Ofqual’s system for categorising qualifications).

Cost & Requirements
£750 (options to pay in full or by deposit and monthly interest-free instalments; a £99 admin fee applies).
CPCAB candidate registration fee (currently £182).

Course Dates
The Level 2 evening course plans to run at least twice during the academic school year, during September to July, and follows the academic calendar in terms of half terms, Easter & Christmas.
​
We offer an additional daytime course for Level 2 that can be taken between Sept and Feb. You may continue on this course on the same schedule each week as part of a combined programme with Level 3, which will be hosted from Feb to July. Note, with the combined programme, candidates will receive a 10% discount on their Level 3 fees.

Starts: Thursday, 4th September 2025, 4 pm to 9 pm (breaks provided).
Ends: Thursday, 12th February 2026, in preparation for progression routes to Level 3, September 2026

​Ends: Thursday, 30th July 2026, in preparation for progression routes to Level 3, September 2026.

In-Person Daytime Course (Level 2 or Level 2 + 3 Combined Route):​​
Starts: Monday, 1st September 2025, 9.15 am to 2.30 pm (breaks provided).
Ends: Monday, 2nd February 2026, in preparation for progression to Level 3, starting 9th February 2026.
​Please note, the in-person delivery caters to individual certification or the combined Level 2 and 3 progression route where you can complete both Level 2 and Level 3 in a single academic year (September to July), if you choose.

Training Venues
Depending on which course you wish to attend, our training groups work together either online via Zoom or in-person at our Great Broomfields training centre (Cranfield Park Road, Wickford, Essex SS12 9EP).
